Fairy Art Box

This keepsake box is handmade by the artist J Daniel and is multipurpose allowing it to be used for many things. It is comprised of three different woods. Mulberry, Maple, and Walnut. The art is carved (engraved 2D) into the wood and is not relief art.  This box is of older generation design and does not feature wood hinges or magnet closure.

This boxes exterior dimensions are 8 7/8 inches wide, 5 ¾ inches deep, 5 5/8 inches high and the wood used is 3/8 inches thick with lid and base being slightly thicker. It is a decent size box weighing in at 2.25 pounds. The interior storage dimensions are 8 1/8 inches in width, 5 inches deep, 4 ¾ inches height.

The art is carved in two places, the lid has the mandala which is made of Mulberry and the front has the fairy which is Maple. The box was sealed with a latex UV protection and then in oil poly. The finish is not the slick glass feel that you often find in store bought furniture or boxes. No epoxies or other finishes were used in order to preserve the genuine wood feel in the touch of the fingers. It is solid hardwood from end to end, preserving that feel in the hands adds to its aesthetic beauty.
