The Celtic Cross

This panel art is made for wall hanging in any room of the home or office. It is cut into maple wood as a 2.5D relief, it is Not engraved or burnt wood. It is 20 ¾ inches wide, 20 inches high and approx ¾ of an inch thick. It weighs 7.8 pounds so be sure to have proper stud support when hanging. All hardware required for wall hanging is already installed.

The art is colored with stain, not paint, in order to accent the woods natural beauty. It has been sealed with a UV protecting sealer, yet it is not advisable for outdoor use with high exposure to sunlight.

The wood used for this work is sourced locally from a private mill which offers high quality wood for custom furniture. The rough lumber is taken and processed, shaped, and cut by myself. No third parties are used for any part of the process. This is not a laminate which was cut and glued onto the wood. The art is indeed carved out of the wood itself.

In 2.5D cutting all material that is not a part of the art is removed leaving the art on the wood which your fingers can feel and touch. Compare this to engraving where a blade cuts into the wood leaving no relief and is still a smooth surface by touch from end to end.
